about

If indeed the universe was sung into existence, on the far side where I stand, I believe music resuscitates life. This album depicts a journey I once took to a place I call BlackMatter. It's a time capsule in retrospect of a certain period I dedicated to human life while questioning its significance in this planetary field. Therefore it's genre-free but conscious.
My music is what I call period music. This is music I write and release during a certain period in history. During the time spent on creating BlackMatter, racial wars we're spewing worldwide and the youth of South Africa took to the streets in protest for free education in institutions of higher learning. So like any other artform, my body of work juxtaposes what is happening in society, through song and wordplay (spelling spells!), especially in the so-called post-colonial times.
This album marks these imprinted memories which were settling into my subconscious mind and caving into my heart; forcing me to grow distant from this planet yet bringing me closer to who I was meant to be in the now, then and in the after. I am a master healer the carrier of burdens. The RaiBlaster. This music became my healing process.
